Install Grammarly on Google Chrome for Editing Help

Grammarly is a free Chrome extension designed to check your spelling and grammar on Facebook, Twitter, Gmail, Web forms and just about anywhere you type online.

Once installed, the system runs automatically. Start typing in a supported text box, Grammarly displays its icon in the lower right corner of the box to indicate that it is working and problematic words or phrases are immediately underlined in red.

It’s a familiar idea, but Grammarly goes much further than some competitors. Contextual checking means that the system does not just spell (they’re), it also knows when the words are not used correctly (review). And the grammar checker goes beyond the basics to tackle complex errors and problems.

Fortunately, this complexity is not visible to the user. If there are no errors, you will not see anything beyond the Grammar icon. If there are problem areas, they are highlighted in red and over the mouse, a pop-up window containing an explanation and alternatives are displayed. Click one of these suggestions to replace the original text, or edit it manually and continue typing.

Sign up for a free grammar account and “you’ll start receiving weekly emails with personalized information and performance statistics.” Do not appeal? No problem, it is not mandatory, the extension will continue to work independently.
